Raku differs from stoneware and earthenware products in that it does not serve a physical purpose like many forms of pottery. Many stoneware and earthenware products are both aesthetic and functional. Raku pottery does not offer the practical functionality of its sister ceramics, such as stoneware and earthenware. Raku is a pure ceramics art form that is to be enjoyed for its aesthetic qualities alone.
